The Lane County Sheriff's Mounted Posse was founded in 1941. The war was taking a toll on staffing levels, so the posse was created to help share in, and lighten, the work load.
The Posse's primary function is to be in service to the Sheriff and the citizens of Lane County. We manage the equestrian arena at Mount Pisgah and act as ambassadors of public relations for the Sheriff's Office.
The Posse can also be a part of the Search And Rescue SAR department, ask for more info! While we were blended with SAR in the past, this year things are moving in a new direction, and will be a transition to both SAR and Posse being separate but still working together. Exciting times!
The Posse is involved in a wide range of activities including ceremonies, parades, public relations, education, parking and security work as fundraising. We are family- oriented and find time for fellowship, celebration, family campouts, trail rides, hold horse shows, clinics, and events!
Having fun with our horses and piers while still being the ambassadors to the Sheriff's Office is the most important goal of being in the Posse.
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of volunteer members and supporters like you.
Our arena is for rent, contact us for more information.
Donate at the home page to help us get the arena covered for year around use!
